Ductless Mini Splits in Kansas City

A ductless mini split is a good choice when one room or area never gets enough comfort from the main HVAC system. Finished basements, garages, sunrooms, home offices, additions, upstairs bedrooms and workshops are the usual candidates, because adding ductwork to those spaces is often expensive, messy or simply not practical.

A mini split is not just a small air conditioner on the wall. The system has to be sized for the space, placed where air can move properly, connected with the correct refrigerant line setup, wired correctly and drained safely. Poor sizing or bad placement leads to short cycling, weak comfort, water leaks, musty smells, or a system that never performs the way the homeowner expected.

A mini split makes sense if you are finishing a basement or adding a room and extending ductwork is too costly, you have a detached garage, workshop or studio to condition, one room is always too hot or too cold no matter what the thermostat says, or you live in an older home with no ductwork at all. A central system may be the better call if you already have good ductwork serving the whole home, and a heat pump may be worth considering if you want one system handling heating and cooling year round.
